Why Choose Us for Invisalign?

How Does Invisalign Work?

A set of clear, plastic aligners that are custom-made to fit a patient who is preparing to receive Invisalign

Using clear, plastic trays that are custom-made to follow your smile sequence throughout treatment, Invisalign will provide you with a subtle solution that doesn’t compromise your daily appearance. Once you are fitted with your first set of aligners, you will be required to wear them at least 20-22 hours each day for 1-2 weeks. After this time frame, you will swap out your current set for the next in the series.

Each new set of trays will cause your teeth to gently shift and conform to the new mold. This puts you one step closer to your new and improved smile. Whether you have overcrowding issues, gapped teeth, a misaligned bite, or crooked teeth, Invisalign will move your teeth in a way that creates a healthier, more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Who is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Are you wondering if Invisalign is possible for your smile? Your cosmetic dentist estimates that ¾ of the adult population could benefit from some form of orthodontic treatment. Since most adults want something more discreet, it should come as no surprise that Invisalign is quickly becoming a popular solution for individuals over the age of 18.

Whether you had braces as a teenager and are now noticing your teeth have shifted over the years, or you never wore braces and want to do something about your smile, Invisalign can be the ideal solution as long as you commit to the process.

Some cases (i.e. gapped teeth) can be too severe to achieve the results you desire with Invisalign and will require you to seek help with traditional braces. However, most instances can be treated with Invisalign.

As a form of cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign can fix the multitude of dental problems (i.e. jaw pain, excessive wear and tear on teeth, unpleasant appearance) as long as you adhere to the detailed instructions provided by Dr. Kandov.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is considered to be one of the most versatile orthodontic solutions available. Treating all types of dental issues (i.e. overcrowding, gapped teeth, misaligned bites), many of its benefits cannot be achieved using other forms of orthodontic treatment. Some of these include:

Understanding the Cost of Invisalign

The cost of Invisalign

It’s easy to assume that the cost of Invisalign is the same for all patients. However, no two cases are alike, which means only until Dr. Kandov evaluates your smile will you know how much you can expect to pay for your Invisalign treatment. With so many factors that must be considered, you may pay less or more than someone else seeking to straighten or realign their teeth. To help you better prepare for the financial aspect of your care, review the information below and contact us with any questions you may have.

Factors that Affect the Cost of Invisalign

Your Invisalign dentist will first meet with you during a scheduled consultation to determine the severity of your orthodontic problem and whether Invisalign is the right method of treatment. When examining your smile, Dr. Kandov will consider the following factors:

  • The severity of your overcrowding, gapped teeth, or bite misalignment
  • Whether you will require aligners for your top teeth, bottom teeth, or both
  • How long your treatment will take, as some problems are much easier and less time-consuming to fix than others (i.e., gapped teeth versus a severe overbite)

Invisalign vs. Smile Direct Club™: Which Costs More?

Invisalign aligners

Do-it-yourself (DIY) aligner systems are popping up throughout the market, creating much intrigue among patients like yourself. With promises of a quick and easy solution to crooked teeth, Smile Direct Club and other similar systems make it appear as if the process can be completed swiftly and with no risks right from home. It also helps that its $2,000 price tag is more appealing.

However, before you jump to start a DIY aligner system, make sure you’re aware of the potential pitfalls that can occur:

  • You must capture your own impressions. Dental professionals are trained to do this the right way to ensure aligners and restorations fit properly. If you are not taught how to do this, your impressions may not be accurate, causing you to receive aligners that don’t fit well.
  • If you experience a problem during treatment, you will not have an orthodontist or dentist to see you face-to-face to offer assistance. You’ll be required to find a local expert, which will cost additional money.
  • Your follow-ups will be done via telehealth, and you’ll be responsible for providing an update on your progress.
  • You may not be a good candidate for Invisalign, but without proper consultation, you may not know this and begin treatment anyway.

Any of the above-mentioned situations can lead to worsening conditions for your teeth. Although Invisalign may cost more, you’ll be placing your smile in the hands of a trusted expert who can walk with you through the process and ensure optimal, lifelong results.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?

Some dental insurance companies do offer orthodontic coverage; however, some do not. You’ll need to review your policy or apply for a separate plan if you prefer. Some have stipulations that state only individuals ages 19 and under can receive coverage or Invisalign may not be included. If you’re unsure how to navigate your plan, our dental team will be happy to assist. We’ll review your policy and determine the type of coverage you have. We’ll also help to maximize your benefits, so you pay less out of pocket.

Options for Making Invisalign Affordable

Dr. Kandov understands Invisalign can be costly. With or without dental insurance, you may need help to pay any remaining balances. This is why she’s pleased to partner with financing companies like CareCredit. Offering low and zero interest payment plans, you can enroll and become eligible to make affordable monthly installments that allow you to stay within your budget.

You can also sign up for her Dental Passport Program . Available for uninsured individuals, you can pay a one-time yearly fee for basic dental care as well as discounts on all other available treatments.

Invisalign FAQs

Patient and dentist discussing Invisalign

If you’re ready to do something about your misaligned, crooked, and overcrowded smile, Invisalign can give you the results you desire without the unsightly metal brackets and wires. With clear aligners, Dr. Kandov can ensure your teeth move with ease while helping you avoid many of the most common issues patients with metal braces experience (i.e., loose appliances, difficulty cleaning, etc.). But before you start treatment, we want you to feel confident in your decision, which is why we’ve compiled some common questions below for you to review. Should you have any additional concerns, contact our office .

Does Wearing Invisalign Aligners Hurt?

You may experience some mild discomfort when first receiving your Invisalign trays as well as each time you swap out your current set for a new one. Teeth movement is not always the most comfortable; however, you can easily curb any soreness with an over-the-counter pain reliever. Within a few days, you’ll no longer notice the discomfort but instead, enjoy your day knowing you’re on your way to a straighter smile.

Are Invisalign Results Permanent?

This depends on whether you wear your retainer as instructed by your cosmetic dentist. Results should be permanent, but if you neglect to follow the guidelines provided by Dr. Kandov, you may be faced with shifting teeth, effectively, undoing all your hard orthodontic work.

Once you’re finished with Invisalign treatment, make sure that you wear your retainer according to the instructions provided to you. This will keep your teeth in their new location until they are firmly integrated.

What Should I Do If I Lose My Invisalign Trays?

Losing your Invisalign aligners is never a good idea, but it does happen. Keeping them in a protective case is the best way to avoid any damage to your trays or a delay in treatment. However, should you accidentally lose one or both of your aligners, make sure you contact our office immediately. We will work quickly to determine if you can move on to the next set in the series or if we should have new trays created.

Until your appointment, reinsert your previous set of aligners, as this will keep your teeth from shifting too far out of alignment.

Can I Be Treated with Invisalign If I’ve Worn Braces in the Past?

The only way to know for sure if you can receive Invisalign is to undergo a consultation with Dr. Kandov. Many patients have great success with this clear aligner system, even if they spent adolescence or early adulthood wearing traditional braces. However, the severity of your dental problem (i.e., overcrowding, gaps, or bite misalignment) will guide Dr. Kandov in her decision as to whether Invisalign will lend successful results or if you require metal braces, once again, to fix the problem.
